Katherine's Allegan County Election Day 2020 Case has spanned from 11/3/20 to the present, for a total of more than 19 months as of today!  The trial is currently scheduled for Motion Hearings & a Settlement Conference on 7/7/22 with the Jury Trial on 7/13/22... But, this is the 8th trial date the court has given, so it is unsure whether it will be moved yet again. Yesterday,  the  MI Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission  went rogue by drawing a congressional district draft map that includes the City of Grand Rapids with the City of Kalamazoo. Who has advocated for them to do this? No one! Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo have little in common and should NOT be considered a community of interest. The current maps also split many of the suburban areas of Grand Rapids from the City in a separate congressional district, including Ada, Sparta, Cedar Springs, Rockford, Lowell. Instead, these areas would be drawn in a congressional district all the way to the City of Midland! The Barry-Eaton District Health Department board met Friday, 3/26. The board is comprised of 3 commissioners from Barry and 3 commissioners from Eaton. They were asked to reduce all regulatory costs to the hard hit restaurants.   Jon Smelker (Barry) with the support of Ben Geiger (Barry) and Dave Jackson (Barry) led the charge to have licensing fees waived for restaurants in the district but were met with push back from the Eaton County members of the board.
